FE!N FE!N FE!N!

Music culture is extremely prevalent in today's younger generation. Anywhere from the slang we use daily to the way people express themselves. As someone with first-hand experience in this complicated generation, it is undeniable that hip-hop plays a key role in our culture. As someone who spends a lot of time on the computer, I enjoy listening to hip-hop, pop, and rap when working. Below are some of my favorite songs and my take on what they represent. Enjoy the read!

  1. FE!N by Travis Scott Featuring Playboi Carti

Fein; the worldwide known song known for causing an earthquake concert (Literally and figuratively) and identified for its repetitive chorus repeating the word “fein”. Fein’s repetitive chorus lyrics and fast-paced beat creates a complex and intriguing song that I enjoy listening to. Yet everyone who has heard the song has asked the question, “What does Fein mean ๐Ÿง”. My take on what it means is the following; Derived from the English word fiend, an evil spirit/demon, or addiction. Considering that FE!N represents Travis Scott’s success it can be inferred that Fein depicts Travis Scott's addiction to his success. One of my top listened-to songs this month, I highly recommend Travis Scott's FE!N to anyone into hip hop and pop.

  1. Not Like Us by Kendrick Lamar

The cemented diss track known worldwide for its catchy lyrics puts the nail in the coffin between the Kendrick Lamar and Drake beef, a publicized disagreement between the two artists. Not Like Us by Kendric Lamar has catchy lyrics often with second meanings and complex ideas. The song has a hip-hop style with a catchy beat. Cemented in Hip Hop diss tracks, Kendric Lamar’s Not Like Us is the perfect pick if you enjoy an exciting and complex song.

  1. Houdini By Eminem

The iconic rapper’s brand new hit song, Houdini by Eminem, depicts the cultural differences from when Eminem was growing up. The song consists of well-spoken and complex lyrics similar to Not Like Us. Whenever listening to the song I find something new. Houdini also contains sound effects and other noises not usually present in a song to create a unique form of a song. I would recommend this song to anyone who likes hip-hop.

As someone who loves to listen to music while working, I find it key to finding new enjoyable songs. While everyone’s taste in music differentiates, I hope my blog can help discover some new music!

Warm wishes,

  2. I've never heard that viewpoint of FE!N's meaning. It's very interesting. Another possible meaning is that it references Travis Scott's drug addiction. It's cool that you figured out the meanings of these songs.

  5. I am loving your analysis of all these songs, but how did you figure out that Travis Scott was talking about his success when saying "FE!N" repeatedly. You said you inferred it which means you have something to back it up with, and the only other thing you talk about it Fein being like fiend or spooky demons๐Ÿ‘ป. I'm just confused how you got his success out of demons, unless your talking about his very safe concerts.

    1. thought the song FE!N Travis Scott has multiple lyrical evidence of him depicting his musical success, "the career is at stake when you are in your prime." this line with the repetition of FE!N can be inferred to represent his success.
