Lacrosse My Heart and Hope to Die🥍
One day, Olive and I were at soccer practice when we were struck with an idea. It started with just a play on words: "Lacrosse my heart and hope to die. " We laughed and thought about how that sounds like a cheesy young adult romance novel. Then we turned to each other and started laughing because we knew we had to keep developing this idea. If no book under the name Lacrosse My Heart and Hope to Die existed, we would just have to create one. So, we used AI to generate our cover page and set off to work writing.
For starters, I just want to clarify that this story is completely satirical, and is mocking and heavily exaggerating some themes seen in a few YA romance novels, such as the stereotypical cheerleader and athlete duo, a girl moving to a new school and becoming very popular, how she finally becomes happy once she gets a boyfriend, and many others. This story is just for fun and has been very enjoyable for us to create, so I really hope you read it! (link at the bottom of this post)
In summary, this is a story of an extremely wealthy (and extremely out-of-touch) high school girl named Elliana leaving her old town, where she had everything: popularity, she was a rising cheerleader, and a beautiful house. Her parents forced Elliana and her brother George to move to a brand new town and leave their perfect life behind. What Elliana doesn't know, however, is that her life is really about to begin. In her new town, East Glennwood, another rising athlete is at work. Chase is training to be even better at lacrosse. They meet and slowly begin to fall for each other. Chase becomes one of the best players on the lacrosse team, and Elliana finally claims her spot as cheer captain.
We have not completed this story, but we are slowly making progress. Once again, this book is just to poke fun at some YA romance novels that seem pretty cheesy. (I still really like the genre, just some are a little tacky) So, apologies in advance for this story's cringiness.

ReplyDeleteI remember you guys talking about this funny title idea at soccer, its so cool that you are actually writing it. I read the first bit that you wrote and it is so good I was laughing so much. I'm excited to read more!
ReplyDeleteHi Hazel! I think it's so cool that you and Olive wrote this book, and the title is a great play on of words! Your book and cover are looking great so far, so good job!
ReplyDeleteI love the title of your story! This sounds like it would be a really fun read. I know what you mean by the stereotypical YA romance novels, so I'm sure this is goong to be really funny!
ReplyDeleteI feel so happy to have seen this concept be born at soccer practice, and your writing is so good! I can't wait for a fully published novel by the end of the year :)
ReplyDeleteOooh um... we're a tiny bit far from finished but we'll keep working
DeleteHey, your post was really shedding light on this literary masterpiece. You are an excellent critic (Im 6'3 btw)
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to hear about a new book being written! I never expected to read a blog post about a book that one of my classmates is writing. I definitely know what you mean by "stereotypical YA romance novels" so I'm sure that this would be a fun read. I also love the title.
ReplyDeleteI remember you telling me about this! I'm genuinely excited to see where this goes; I skimmed through the doc you had linked and, so far, it reminds me of 2016 Wattpad (BUT IN THE BEST WAY I SWEAR--THAT WAS LIKE A PEAK WATTPAD YEAR IMO). If you ever finish it I better be getting a signed copy, though.
